Hey, I’m a 32 years old from south Louisiana and I am pretty new to owning chickens. I’ve come across a few questions I’ve had that a google search couldn’t answer so figured I’d join.


(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I bought some baby chicks for the first time about 6 weeks ago. I’ve had chickens before for a short time but they were purchased full grown.


(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

I have 15 chicks that are 6 weeks old and another 6 chicks that are 5 weeks old.

(3) What breeds do you have?
I have many different breeds including white leghorn(3), salmon favorolle(4), black sex link(2), Sicilian buttercup(2), Wyandotte(1), Barnevelder(3), Easter egger(3), and one of each lavendar Orpington, polish, gold sex link.


(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I enjoy being outdoors like gardening or fishing.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I work in a medical laboratory. I have one special fur baby named Jack who is a 13 year old chihuahua mix.

Good morning, welcome to BYC. Only one crested chicken in a flock is a bad idea. It often tends to make them a target. I would suggest adding two more polish.
