Hey there! I'm in NC and am raising my first chicks. I have Ameraucanas, one Red Star, and one Speckled Sussex. Their names are Henrietta (Red Star), Zillah (Speckled), and Josephine, Ada, Vivienne, Augusta *Gus,* and Hazel (all Ameraucanas). Some of the Ameraucanas will be roosters, but I'll deal with that when I get there :-) The chicken run needs chicken wire and a door, and my chicken coop just needs some red and white paint. They have an awesome brooder thanks to my husband's building skills. I am loving this SO much. Vivienne and Josephine had sticky bottoms and I faithfully cleaned them for two weeks. I think it is finally gone-hallelujah!

some Apple cider vinegar added to the water will help with the pasty butts - sorry I don't know the dosage but you could search for ACV. You really need 1/2 inch
hardware cloth around the perimeter of your run from ground upward 2 feet or so to keep raccoons from grabbing body parts and eating them off.
