came home to day to find my chickens fighting over something. found out my white chicken had a field mice in its mouth and my brown chicken was chasing it to get it off the other chicken , however my white chicken end up swallowing it whole. :s then i looked out of window and my brown chicken had one in its mouth and the white one was chasing the brown one, but the white chicken end up getting that mouse of the brown one, and end up swallowing tht one whole 2 , so the white chicken eat 2???? i never new chickens ate meat .... what can happen to my chicken >? is this normal help
(by the way i dont have mice mice... behind my house is a park and lots of fields, so thats were the mice are coming from, only field mice haha .)
from Ohio. So glad to have you aboard. Chickens do love mice. The only problem with them swallowing a mouse is if it is a large one. I had a hen that I found dead in the coop and couldn't figure out what happen until I saw something in her mouth. I pulled out a rather large mouse from her throat. She had chocked to death. I even took a pic of it. So now I try to keep the barn mice free by keeping all traps set.
