Hello all you BYC'ers! My name is Kim and I have been a lurker for the last few months and wow this place has been invaluable! I just had to sign up and join the fun. I had chickens long ago when I was a kid and have always wanted to have them again. I feel kinda dumb because I only knew of the chickens that existed in our local feed store NOT the hundreds of breeds that exist out there! Thank goodness for Google! I am now the proud slave to 6 amazing birds. Well 7 if you count the parrot lol. Once I started the journey it was so hard to only choose 6 but my husband sorta said 4 and I pushed it to 5 and then a spare.... at that point he made me pinky swear so I'm stuck now. Thanks to a wonderful breeder who educated me on his own time I now live with a Speckled Sussex (Amy Farrah Fowler), a light Brahma (Penny), an Australorp (Bernadette), an English Blue Orpington (Omelette), a French Blue Maran (Quiche), and a splash BLRW (Fuzzbutt) who has turned out to be a roo against all of my wishes 
. I am currently exploring all options as he is my favorite and I cannot just get rid of him. Here he is napping on my lap yesterday.
I even got my Mom to join the fun and she now has 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Blue Ameraucanas and 2 splash BLRW.
Can't wait to see what's next... oh yeah, eggs! That was the selling point to the hubby. It will be a little longer, my oldest are only 11 weeks. I got them all as tiny chicks ( SO MUCH FUN!!!)
