So, I am currently saving up for my own piece of land. In the meantime, my family and I are fulltime RVing. We are parked in a friend's backyard at the moment. He has 10 chickens. They have started laying in earnest now, and he told us to take as many eggs as we want. Problem is, he feeds them Dumor and we eat everything organic. Dumor is not, right? I'm thinking no and I'm sure it's GMO crap.
I feel bad for the poor things. The owner is quite ignorant. They are in a sunny spot, he used a old tin shack for the coop...no nest boxes, just shelves. I let them out when he's not around and give them all our veggie scraps. I can't wait for the day we get our own piece of heaven...I will chicken-nap those sweet girls!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

There are a few brands of Non GMO Organic feeds out there. They are very expensive to use, nearly 5 times the cost of regular feed. I used one for a while from Manna Pro. It smelled good enough to eat myself. LOL

You might stop by our learning center while you are waiting to get your land and chickens. Lots of good articles there on all the aspects of keeping chickens and other poultry...

If you have any questions once you get started, feel free to ask. Welcome to our flock!
