I'm a former member, who stopped coming around a few years ago when we moved and I had to get rid of my chickens. This year in our new house we've planted several raised beds, put in our compost tumbler, and generally are working on becoming more "Slow Food" friendly. So, it was time for chickens again! Building a coop was a blast, and we really went nuts. Chickens are not necessarily excluded in my town, but are not expressly allowed either. We made the coop as cute as possible so if we do get the law called on us, maybe the cute factor will help our case LOL! We have three one week old pullets- an araucana, buff orpington, and something black with a few small yellow spots that I can't identify LOL! Anyway, I wanted to share some pics of the coop that we built from plans purchased online. My middle daughter is making the sign, which reads "The Chicken Ranch, est. 2010". We will be putting the coop into place as soon as the sun comes out and dries things out around here.
