Hi chicken lovers,

I love this site and visit it all the time for advice and info, but have never thought to join. We are relatively new chicken owners with a flock of 10 lovely chickens (australorp, barnevelder, lavender araucana, wellsummer, plymouth rock and speckled, buff and light sussex).

We sadly lost three birds who flew out of the run to a fox. With our new guard alpacas and a netted roof, we're back on track and the boys and girls have never been happier. I don't want to upset the balance or risk illness by introducing new adults, so I'm looking to put some eggs under a broody hen (when and if I get one) to replace the breeds we have lost.

As I don't know when that will be, I'm looking for a regular breeder of barnevelders and blue australorps, so I can get some eggs posted asap if the time comes.

If anyone has a lead on where I might find a regular egg supplier, that would be tops!

Thanks!!

I'm assuming you would want a breeder in Australia so the eggs wouldn't have to travel so far. If you go to "Where am I, where are you," you can locate the Australian thread and post on them. Or you could put "Australian thread" in the search box and see what come up.

:welcome and good luck with your poultry adventure! :frow you are so lucky you have buff Sussex available! They are rather unheard of here and are on the top of my wish list!

Thanks all for the welcome. That is a shame re postage CB and CG - but can understand why you wouldn't want to risk it.

LeviS buff is a stunning girl who just laid her first egg! So proud! I am rather fond of the sussexes - I may add a silver sussex at some point too.
