Hi all. My husband and I decided to join after buying our new chicks.
We bought 6 silkies and 4 Barred Rocks, they are 2wks old now! Their all doing well and spoiled rotten.
After googling things like "punky butt" and "chicks pecking others" and ending up here, we felt it was a good idea to join the community! We're adding pictures for those who are interested. The first pic is of henry, who looks nothing like the other silkies, anyone who might know if he could be a different breed or maybe a male? The other pics are of a couple of the silkies and one of our barred rocks.
It's good to be here with like minded folks and we're sure we will have many questions as time goes by, lol

As you have already received links to some good starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share more pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Hey Teila, Thank you for the welcome! We made many friends from your neck of the woods in our old Call of Duty days (that was a long time ago)
Now we prefer getting outside and working in the garden and messing with the chickens. We know we'll feel at home here and hopefully be able to contribute to other newbies in the future.

They all look like beautiful silkies to me, you can also post your photos at "what breed or gender is this." Silkies are very difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age and sometimes not till they crow or lay.
