I have had chickens all my life 60+ years , but have just in the last couple of years gotten serious about it.
I have a RIR rooster tending to my laying flock which are 3-rir , 4 black sex link , 1 just jet black medium chicken , 3 dom's and 3 nondescript hens ( all last years hatch ) am getting 7 eggs a day most days.
I have 14 eggs in a 'handbuilt ' incubator lousy theromostat but I think it will do for this try , this is my 3rd try at building my own and has a 360 egg capicity but I only have 14 in for the maiden voyage . have americonnas 1 rooster 3 hens , in their own pen also 11 cuckoo maranas in their own pen ,,,, 2 more pens planned about the same size as the first 2 (15 x 25 ) with a 4x8 roost/house outside the pen space with a lockable door for night . plan to have my house egg pen and 4 or 5 purebred pens for hatching and selling hatching eggs .
I'm in Lowndes County Ga about 15 miles from the Fl. line .
