I'm a beginner chicken mama and I have a 3 month old Japaniese Silkie. Her name is "Silkie" Magin that...
I have had her for about 1 1/2 weeks now and have this wonderful chicken coop my husband made for me. It's an A-frame that is aproximently 3ft X 2ft, 3 ft tall. It's perfect for the one chicken. Today I noticed she was having trouble walking and seems to be favoring her left leg. She will walk on it if she wants to, and seems to walk normal when she does walk. But,,,, I have been watching her, and she acts like she's off ballance at times. She fell out from her top section this morning when trying to come down her ramp. I thought it was the steps were too far apart. But she doesnt' seem herself today. Does anyone have an input of what could be wrong with her?

she might have scaly legs where it hurts to walk because mites have gotten in/around her leg scales making them rise up from the skin. (somethin like that

)
check and see if she has any cuts or swelling.

I am not sure about the injury...it may just be that she is in pain from jumping down wrong. You will likely get better (eh....more useful) answers if you post the question regarding her leg in the emergencies, etc section. Some folks on here go through that section, but may not visit the new members section.

Also, chickens are very social animals, she may be "not herself" because she is lonely. (If you spend enough time on here...you'll end up with 20 silkies!

Any other symtoms she is haveing?
Is she eating and drinking? Is her poop normal?
Did she get wet at all by the rain? What is the temp out side ?
