My 3 brown pullets have taken a fancy to my door mat that they have eaten photos below here
Hoping it wont harm them or if it will cause them problems

what should I look out for if it does cause an issue? They are all eating and drinking well

Any change in eating, defecating, and general behavior would indicate a possible problem. I think that your birds will be fine.

Hi, welcome to BYC!

I'm with Drumstick Diva on this, I'd remove the mat. Is it possible they could be pecking at it out of boredom? Chickens can get bored just like people so be sure they have plenty of room and maybe some free range time would help. You can also do things like hang apples or cabbages for them to peck at, give them perches at different heights in their run, things to jump on & explore, etc.

Good luck to you. It's nice to have you here!

Thanks and yeah I removed the mat
They free range every day but its the mat inside my house they come in through our doggy door

they all are doing well and we got our first egg today :D
