I'm a new member here. I'm not new to chickens but I am new to using an incubator. We have had free range chickens for a long time and enjoy eating fresh eggs. A couple of the hens are pets of my kids. We've been collecting eggs for a week and want to hatch our own and I had no idea there was so much to take care of in doing so! LOL

I just have a styro incubator from Farm Innovations and already it looks like I may have problems with humidity. It's been running with no water in it and is holding around 50% humidity. I'm hoping that doesn't cause problems. I guess we will just get started and go from there.

I'm lurking through old posts and trying to learn. There seems to be a lot of good info here and I'm looking forward to learning as much as possible. If anyone has any tips, I'd be glad to hear them.

Hi Lisa, very nice to meet you. You may want to check out threads regarding incubation and hatching. I have no experience in those areas. Glad you joined the BYC flock.

Hi, Lisa, welcome to BYC. Go to the "Raising Backyard Chickens" forum and click on the 'Incubating and Hatching Eggs" section for more advice on incubation.
