I'm Ginger. I've had chickens for 18 years. Lost the last of my flock this past winter to a coon that worked its way in the run. I wasn't going to replace them but the hubster really misses having them. So four pullets will be here tomorrow. He's spent the last two days building a new coop and fixing the run. We're going out later to get food and stuff to make a waterer for them. They will free range the back yard during the day. I believe we're getting cinnamon queens, my sil is getting some and picking ours up for us also.

Sorry to hear about the last flock, hope you removed the raccoon from the area, so he doesn’t try it again..

When you get your little ones send us some pictures we all like vet pictures lol...

Welcome to BYC! Hopefully this time does the trick and your coop/run will be coon-proof now. I had a rough start to chicken keeping and I missed the crowing of the roosters most when I lost my first flock. It was pretty much like a phantom pain not getting rushed by the flock hoping for treats and the lack of their antics that had me starting back again.
