Hi all,

First I want to say thank you all so much — this site has been a lifesaver already for me taking care of our new chicks! Here’s my intro:

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yup, first time chick mom over here 😳

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
10…one didn’t make it after falling ~6” when transferring her to a bigger brooder 😢

(3) What breeds do you have?

6 Plymouth Rocks and 4 Rhode Island Reds!

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Not sure I have one yet…it’s been pretty amazing to watch how quickly they grow!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I discovered you guys last week when I was frantically searching for seasoned advice on chick raising when I got the chicks home and realized I had all the equipment and no idea what a happy, healthy chick actually looked or acted like. This site was such an amazing resource! Hopefully once I get some more experience under my belt, I can help contribute too 🙂

Welcome to BYC!!

Glad you found some lifesaving information here, and sorry for the loss of your chick.

You will surely be able to contribute to this forum. One of the great things about BYC is that you don't have to be an expert to participate. Your everyday experience can enlighten someone else, you can express support or cheer others' successes. It's all appreciated.

Welcome to BYC and best wishes with the babies!
