New member but have had chickens since 2012. Just recently added four chicks to a broody hen. Last time I tried fertilized eggs and the two chicks that hatched died a day later. Lots of questions now as this is all new. I have 6 hens that are in the main coop/run area and the broody hen and chicks are in a separate enclosure but visible. They cannot free range because we have coyotes in our neighborhood. Had three chicks last spring but one was a rooster so he had to be rehomed. I like my neighbors!

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Sorry about the chicks. Usually, the hen will get them to food/water right away. Did they have chick crumbles or all-flock nearby and water? Sometimes, it's unknown why some chicks just don't flourish though.

We're glad you're here!
