Hi, myself, husband and little girl are very excited to say we picked up (rescued sort of) our very first chickens on Saturday.
They are White Leghorns and I love them already.
Looking forward to talking to other chicken people and getting any advice people think might be helpful.
Have a great day all.
;)

I hope this works lol.
There should be some pics of our ladies above.
We were not quite prepared for them as the pen was made last summer but not put together so they are in with the rabbit at the moment.
My husband is putting their much larger pen together tomorrow so they can have plenty of room.
However what they have with the rabbit is better than where they came from.
Just got to wait for them to grow back their feathers :)

Bless them they gave 19 yesterday but 2 were soft shelled so they obviously had not been getting all they needed before.
Today so far I have had 10.
I was surprised that they payed straight away. I thought it would be a couple of days from the stress of moving.

So glad you joined us.

Congrats on your new flock. Better nutrition, a family that loves them….and hopefully an end to the molt soon…will make them happy hens.

Feel free to ask questions, we are here to help.

Would love to see them in their new coop when you get it done.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join to our flock. Raising chickens is wonderful experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Be sure and put out a pan of crushed oyster shell (in addition to your layer feed) for your hens to eat so those egg shells will harden up. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in hardening up those eggshells.

Congratulations on your new chickens! I'm happy to hear that they are already laying for you.
