I'm new to the site but not so new to chickens.
My wife dutifully took care of our little rat terrier and beagle mix whilst he convalesced for about 6 years. The house was so quiet, and we missed him so much. I decided to adopt three Buff Orp hens and their rooster. Deb never had chickens before and at first was a little apprehensive, I was raised around them. Anyway the birds really got us out of the funk we were in, Deb absolutely loves them, they are spoiled rotten. The hens started to brood almost immediately. The beginning of summer was cool and we ended up with way to many roosters. Pictured is our little Sweet Pea.

Aww.....Sweet Pea is adorable! Yes, chickens can help you heal from all kinds of things, especially the loss of a beloved pet. So sorry for your loss.

Enjoy your wonderful flock! And we do welcome you to ours!

We're glad to have you.

Your birds are adorable! Good luck with them

And, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. Buff Orpingtons are a wonderful breed. I've raised them for years and they are very beautiful, hardy, calm and gentle (my children, and now my granddaughter, made lap pets of them), and good layers of large, brown eggs. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your BO flock.
