My name is Donna and my family and I are new to chicken keeping. We inherited a mixed breed chicken when we started renting a house from a friend. Her name is Gladys and she is a mix of Rhode Island Red and Barred Rock. We plan to add 3 or 4 more chickens soon. She is already an adult chicken. I would love any advice you have on what breeds to add. We are looking for layers only. My husband and son, both engineers, over-built the coop, so there will be plenty of room for them. We were hoping to be able to let them free range, but one of our dogs does not agree.
I am constantly amazed by how much personality this chicken has. Apparently she likes the rain, as she is currently standing on top of her house in it.
