I just wanted to say hi to all and tell our story.
We had quite a flock going (6 guineas, 4 turkeys, 3 ducks and 7 chickens) when we were decimated by a coop fire. We believe it was caused by the heat lamp. Anyway, the fire was so intense that it melted the heat lamp and turned our coop to ash with a few sticks pointing up that were the corner posts of the coop. I thought the entire flock was a loss, when one of the firemen pointed out where one was hiding in the tall grass.
Little Miracle is doing well now, despite the fact that she has lost the end of all her toes. Those I do not think will grow back, but the singed feathers did. We keep her in a paper lined cage in the house during the night and let her out during the day to peck and scratch and do what ever chickens do.
