This is my first day with BackYardChickens.com. I have learned so much from the Learning Center already!! Very impressed with the wealth of knowledge everyone here has about raising chickens. I have many questions to ask, and will throw in my 2 cents in different threads and topics.
First off, I am from Alberta, Canada, near the city of Grande Prairie. I have a 7 year old daughter, and a 2 year old son, and a lovely wife. We have a small dog, 2 cats, 2 mini ponies, 2 barred rock cross roosters, and we just picked up 8, 4 week old chicks. They are Black Australorp, Ameraucana and Buff Brahma. I have a starter flock of bielefelder chicks to pick up tomorrow, which I am extremely excited for.
I have not raised chickens since I was a kid. So there are many things to learn, specially when health issues arise. I plan on free ranging all my chickens, and using the organic method. I would be extremely interested in hearing from any one who raises organic chickens.
My future plans are to have 20 chickens, 20 turkeys, and a few peacocks.
That's all folks, Peace!
