Hi everyone I have been lurking for a few months now but finally got around to making an account and introducing myself.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

We are starting our first flock this year, they will be 3 weeks old on Wednesday.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

We currently have 17 chicks.

(3) What breeds do you have?

We got an assortment from the hatchery so we are still figuring it out. I am pretty confident that we have a few Barred Rock, a few Dominique, I think a few are Rhode Island Reds, but I am not really sure on the rest. I am trying to narrow it down as they start to feather out.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

Searching the internet for all my million and six chicken questions during our planning and now actually raising of chickens.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I sew clothing, crochet, random DIY projects, garden, cook, and read. I also scuba dive from time to time.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I live with my husband, two young daughters (4 and 2 years old), we also have a dog and 2 turtles currently.

I am so thankful for all the information and ideas I have already gotten from these forums.

G'Day from down under EMT_16 :frowWelcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.
