(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I just got my first chicks in September of last year, so they are almost 6 months old now.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
5.

(3) What breeds do you have?
Olive Egger, Easter Egger, Dark Brahma

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Pets, bug control, garden cleanup, eggs, they are very pretty, and I get an excuse to build things

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, hiking, cooking, woodwork (still a newbie!), training my goofy dog (new on this one too!)

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 4 kids, all under 10 so life is crazy. We also have a dog (Golden mix) and quail (Coturnix).
I was a civil engineering drafter, right now I’m a full time mom.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I have found BYC about a million times while searching the internet for answers to my chicken and quail questions That research started about 3 or 4 years ago when I started daydreaming about chickens, lol. And I decided to finally join because I’m having so much fun with my birds that my poor husband is getting tired of hearing about them.

:yesss: :welcome :yesss:

Coturnix Quail. Just the wild type for now, but adding other colors looks so fun!

Questions like: brooder ideas, coop ideas, how early can I give treats, winter precautions, early signs of rooster vs pullet. (My mother told me I had a roo when they were still tiny... she was right :’( He was gorgeous and sweet, but they are illegal in my city.), treats for quail, adult quail feet protein %, quail hutch ideas, quail aviary ideas, blah blah blah

I’ve been loving your hatching thread, Kiki! Now I want to try it too! :)
