(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm new to chickens but I've had quail for a couple of years so it's not a completely new experience.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
14: I hatched 5 but 4 were cockerels. I picked up a few chicks locally so my hens would have company. I'm sending the roos to a friend when they get a little bigger since I live in a town that doesn't allow roosters.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Brahma, welsummer, d'uccle, bantam Phoenix cross, Easter egger, silkie
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love their antics! Oh my gosh I can watch them all day. Came for the eggs, stayed for the show.
I especially love giving them treats but I make sure to do so in moderation lol
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Reading, gardening, road trips
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have three cats and no children. I'm able to work from home some days, which is nice because I can cuddle on the couch with my cats or check on the chickens during my lunch/breaks
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I'm a big reader and a bit obsessive when I find a new hobby so... Google led me to the forum and you have a ton of helpful resources and opinions! I never run out of content. I've been lurking for a couple of years and decided it's time to actually join the community.
