I have just started to attempt to hatch some Chinese painted quail eggs I have read various things about humidity I live in uk and have seen lots of different variations as to humidity some so no humidity is required but others say you do any help appreciated thanks

Ok just that I read no humidity neede until last few days but will give it a go

Humidity is needed all throughout the incubation process. Without humidity during incubation, the egg is going to dehydrate and cause the embryo and egg to lose too much weight and dry out. You want some weight loss to the egg to make room for the air cell and growing embryo, but you don't want so much the embryo dies from being dried out.

What is everyone's best method of getting humidity up I was thinking if using a small yoghurt pot like what kids have would be ok

Keep water in the incubator and if that is not enough, you can add wet sponges. Use a hydrometer so you know the exact humidity. You will need to up this level by 10% more at lock down.

What is the best thing to stand eggs in pointy end down to settle before putting in incubator

Here is a link to some good info. Keep in mind that this info was made for the "commercial breeder" in mind. About half way through the document, there is a chart (or 2) with settings for the different birds. Here is another link about Gamebird management. I spent days just reading these documents over and over before I decided to raise quail.
Good luck and welcome to the Quail Forum.
