I just joined and am happy to have found the site. We just got 5 chicks yesterday. They are a mix of different breeds. I raised chickens years ago (back in the 70's) when I was in high school as an FFA project, but haven't had any chickens since then. We now live in an urban area where a number of people keep a few chickens for the fresh eggs. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed watching the little chicks and hearing their peeping noise!

Thanks for the tips. I was alerted to the pasty butt thing by the place I ordered the chicks from. I had one with this problem so I took care of it right away and the chick seems fine now. How do I PM you??
