Well, we are moving there soon, but right now we are in Denmark.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I am new to chickens although my maiden name in old Norse has to do with raising them.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

None yet as we are moving, but we are researching as much as we can before we get them.

(3) What breeds do you have?

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

I think by searching for some information about chickens.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Gardening, blogging, etc.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I've got a cute little 4 year old girl, a big husband, and a really old Briard (dog).

Right now we are debating ordering 3 or 4 chicks through a hatchery knowing that the sexes will likely be right or buying local and risking getting all roosters, which we don't want any at all.

! Happy you joined us! BYC is a great place to learn the ropes of chicken keeping. In addition to the brown Breeds thread above, you can learn about a few breeds in the link below. Good luck and enjoy the adventure!

Thanks for the link! I think after quite bit of reading we've decided to start out with the Plymouth Rocks.

I'd go for the sexed chicks instead of being stuck with all roosters

Yeah, my husband and I both agreed on that. Even though it is cheaper to buy local taking the shipping into account, we are not prepared to have any roosters right now.
