I have had chickens on and off, (mostly on) for the last 30 odd years. I live with my husband and 2 dogs in one of the coast of Virginia. Over the years I've had Rhode Island Reds and Sex Links. For a number of years I sold my excess eggs but no longer. Right now I just have 6 Dominics, 2 roos and 4 hens, 5 Buff Orpintons, 2 roos and 3 hens.
 
Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. You sound a bit like me, except I've been raising chickens for the past 50 years. At one time or another, I've had all of the breeds that you mention (still have Buff Orpingtons and Black Sex Links). The Black Sex Links are my favorites as they are friendly, egg laying machines but my Buff Orpingtons have been great with my children and granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) who have made lap pets of them.
