Hello everyone, I am from Central City which is on the out skirts of Baton Rouge. I am married and have two children, one girl and one boy, ages 14 and 15. We live on 3 acres of land and have 4 dogs, 2 Cats, 2 ducks, 1 cockatiel, a pond full of fish and our new additions of 6 chickens.
We have been raising ducks for about 15 years now but our duck of 14 years recently passed. We went to TSC to get a new duck so the one left would have a companion and ended up coming home with 6 baby chicks. I have been wanting them for a few years now and decided to finally take the plunge. They are now 8 weeks old and doing great.
I have been following the site for sometime now reading about the different breeds. I know we have 1 leghorn pullet, 1 sexlink pullet, 2 brahmas ( I believe dark but do not know the gender of either), i think a barred rock Cockrel, and a cornish cross ( was definitely not wanting this one but they messed up and it was to late when we realized what we had). This group is very informative and I am excited to be a new member. I look forward to seeing what new things I will learn from each of you.
