I"m new today though I've been browsing posts for a few weeks. I'm trying to decide exactly how to act on my urge to have chickens!
I am a retired school librarian who is an avid gardener and bird watcher. I also have five grandchildren who would love to help with the "girls" when I get them! I'm considering Delaware, Dominique, Buff Orpington, and Sussex as I choose.
I've learned a lot already and appreciate all the info!

Hello!! From GA here too. You will love it. I was just thinking today how much I love having chickens wandering in my yard...they are so fun to watch!

I have one Buff. Orp Rooster, and couple Delaware (I have 27chickens all together of different breeds) I must say that I really love Black Sex Links, they have a really beautiful metalic green tinge and lay religiously, also love the Barred Rocks. I also have some 4 month old NH Reds, and they seem to be very friendly birds so far...just a couple of my favs.
