Hi all,

I am a newbie to both this forum, forum's in general and chicken ownership. Our recent foray into chicken custodianship has been fraught with with both tragedy and triumph. We have lost one chook to a snake after recent floods in our area; added another that got terribly henpecked; added another to try and diffuse the situation and in amongst all this hatched 6 lovely babies using an incubator. I have joined the forum for some much needed advice on a broody hen and have posted accordingly in the incubating and hatching thread. As I am new to forums in general, I have no real idea about terminology or protocol so please let me know if I should be doing things differently

The little chickys in your avatar look adorable.

Hi and welcome to Backyard Chickens. Hope your luck improves soon. Integrating new birds into the flock has to be done on a gradual basis. It disturbs the pecking order which has to be re-established. There are many posts on doing it without bloodshed and written much better than I could do. You could put " flock integration," in search box and see what pops up.

Welcome!
