Hello,
found the forum day before yesterday, what an awesome resource! I am a little overwhelmed by all the info. Just hoping I don't do something wrong and kill my babies unintentionally! Does everyone get up at least once a night to check on their chickens when they first start out?? My DH is beginning to think I've lost my mind. We got our 2wk olds last week. We got 6 orpintons and 3 australorps. One aust. looked a little floppy from the start and we lost her after a couple of days.

A second one was becoming sooo agressive. pecking everybody else and pulling out feathers and generally terrorizing the flock. We rehomed him/her suspecting a roo to someone who wanted one. We are building our coop from plans purchased from Mobile Chicken Coops in Burnet Tx.
So far so good should be ready by the time they are! We also have 2 cats and a dog living on 2 acres of paradise. Who knew chicken would be so addictive.
thanks for all the good advice, ya'll are awesome!

from Ohio. So glad you joined. Sorry to hear about the one you lost but unfortunatly that does happen. I still get up and check on the babies that are in my garage at the moment and they are three weeks old now. I am always afraid the heat bulb will burn out in the middle of the night. That is why I always have an extra on hand just in case.
