Hello everyone!
I have been lurking here for about a year and now that we have our chicks I figured it would be a good idea to come out of hiding : )
We just recently moved to Eastern Kentucky - well, my husband is moving back, he was raised here, and we have always wanted a small backyard type farm. My husband grew up on a farm and has had chicken and such but not me. We also have 5 children ages 3-15 and really wanted them to live in a more country setting and learn sustainable living.
Right now we have 6 chicks which should be 2 barred rocks, one RIR red and three red stars all pullets *fingers crossed*
I am COMPLETELY in love with the chicks and already planning more for the flock and made the husband make the coop and run a little bigger -- you know -- just in case : )
Right now the chickens will just be for eggs however we also want to raise some meat birds.
