Hi all! I acquired a mama muskovy when neighbors down the road drained their pond. (To clean it?) Apparently ppl have been dropping off unwanted poultry there for years.
She 1st nested under my deck in the spring. 7 babies were all killed by hawks at about a week old.
She's done it again and now there are 10. 3 boys, 7 girls. They are about 3.5 weeks old. She is such a good mama too.
We have a kiddie pool for them and at night they hide under the deck. We don't have any real predators here except hawks. But I think the cold coming may bother them. I want to build them a house. But not sure the appropriate size they need. I need to keep it small as we don't have the biggest yard. I'd love any suggestions! Thank you so much!

Hi Larissa,

It's so nice that you took in the ducks. I would definitely suggest making a secure home for them, as poultry always seem to attract predators even in the most unlikely of places. If you post in the Duck forum, I'm sure that folks there should be able to help out with the dimensions of the coop.

Also, I would recommend the Learning Center-- it's a great resource with tons of info about all kinds of poultry.

Best of luck and thanks for joining us!
