Hi from Western New York.
Live in the country on a grape farm an hour from Buffalo, NY. Have raised a variety of animals over the years but now that we are getting too creaky for hay baling and lamb birthing in the middle of a snowstorm, we have retired from livestock keeping. But I was still yearning for the good old days so hubby bought me an Amish shed for a chicken coop, fenced it in and off I went. Those girls laid for 2 years and my current batch of one year olds are 4 Barred Rocks, l Delaware & 1 Amerecana. Loved the green eggs so have 8 Amerecana 3 mo. olds ordered this Spring and l Welsummer rooster. I ordered 6 SR Welsummers but through illness and adversity I only have l Welsummer left - Kellogg the rooster. I am trying desperately to find some Welsummer pullets or pullet chicks and all the hatcheries say "Sold out for 2009" - do any of you experienced folks have any ideas for me?
