Hi, everyone! My name is Amanda, and I'm located in the Appalachian Mountains of North-Central West Virginia, located just outside of Morgantown, WV.
I've reintroduced chickens to my family's farm for the first time in almost 3 decades since my grandma raised chickens for them to eat and to supplement the income of the farm by selling eggs to local grocery stores, bakeries, etc. Right now, I've got a flock of 6 barnyard mixes (1 row, 5 hens) that don't lay well in winter, so I'm getting ready to expand the flock to include some tried and true cold-weather breeds and hopefully get a rainbow of egg colors. I'm currently using an Omlet chicken tractor setup, but I'm getting ready to build a larger coop that can accommodate a few dozen birds with a storage area that will eventually have a greenhouse added to it.
I'm looking forward to learning from you all since I'm relying on memories from early childhood and YouTube for what little chicken knowledge I have currently!
