Hi there! My name is Amy and I've been lurking for weeks, reading obsessively, you know the drill...I don't have any chickens yet, but I do believe I've just about talked DH into it. I live in Jacksonville and we are not supposed to have them in the city, but we have a good sized back yard and decent neighbors and I'm pretty sure I can manage three or four hens on the downlow.
Of course, my hubby is a code enforcement officer, so if I get caught, I'd probably have a hard time pleading ignorance.
Anyway, I'm a teacher about to be out for summer, and I'm hoping to use the time to get a small coop, tractor, and brooder together and get a few Buff Orpington chickies. I've learned SO much just from this forum-- y'all are great!
