Hello Y'all! Nice to meet everyone on here. I am an avid bird lover and currently have over 50 chickens, 20 ducks and 5 geese. (plus 3 goats and a dog) I found this website recently because I've been having an issue with hawks on our homestead; approx 50 hawks have taken residence in the trees on our property :( Needless to say I am NOT happy about it. (in the picture below, all of the birds in the sky are hawks!) They are beautiful birds but not when I have free ranging poultry running around during the day! Anyhow, nice to meet everyone and I hope y'all are staying cool during the summer heat we are having ;)

And I thought the 8 I've been seeing northeast of Houston was a lot...

I've been going crazy watching my girls and baby. I ordered a pen for them since I'm not allowed anything permanent where I'm at atm. It won't be here for 2 weeks though.

My mom thinks I'm paranoid about the hawks. I was sitting in the run with them when this hawk dived down toward us, I jumped up grabbed the rake and he went back up. I don't think he knew I was in there too.

I spend most of the morning in here watching out and the evenings. Afternoons are usually quiet, if not - they run into the coop it's only absolutely safe place.

I so can't wait until it gets here, so I don't worry about them swooping in and hurting one of my girls or taking off with the baby.
