In the Brooder
Hi, I'm new here and new to chickens too.
This June I started out with 6 chickens (3 Barred Rock, 3 Golden Sex Link).
Right now I have 7 chickens (3 BR, 4 GSL). We lost one Golden last week to crop issues. Being new I didn't realize there was a problem until it was too late. My poor Ginger, she was my favourite. Today we picked up 2 new Golden girls bringing us to the 7.
I came across BackYardChickens.com when looking up info regarding leg mites and general chicken health. Has been my go to site ever since.
Other hobbies include being crafty - mostly crocheting at the moment. Gardening when it's not too hot out (last I'd heard, this summer we've had 39 days with +30 degree temps and humidity that could make even the straightest hair curl). I also enjoy trying to convince my husband to get us a goat. Just a wee one.
On our 5 acre piece of the pie, my husband and I have an old brick farm house with 4 cats, a dog, and a teething 14 months old baby girl.

All our chickens are ladies and 5 out of 7 are laying.
. Great to have you with us! Sounds like a nice farmstead you have going. Enjoy your flock and thanks for joining BYC!
