Hello, been a lurker for a long time, but finally became a member. I have been raising chickens for egg production for about 2 years. I have around 60 hens and 3 roo's. I have a large assortment of chickens since I had no experience with them and decided to get an assortment to discover my favorite. Still don't have a favorite breed (If had to choose, I'd probably pick the Buff Orphintons) but love the blue/green eggs of the aurocanas and my Black sex link is really pretty. My favorite chickens are 2nd/3rd generation mixed breeds. They are very friendly and come over to say hi and for a pet whenever I enter the coop.

I love all the information available at this site! It has helped me immensley with keeping my flock healthy.

You must sell your eggs, right? 60s a lot of birds.
 
Yes I sell them. Have a lot of people interested in them and have been getting some large orders lately to the point I'm thinking of increasing my flock. It's nice because it pays for the feed and upgrades to the coop. :)
 
Welcome, I used to live in Myrtle point. This is my first year with layers and I am enjoying it a lot. I just got a Buff Orpington chick myself and I hope she is as nice as I was told she would be! Hope to talk to you more!
