Hi! I'm new here and so excited to be finally getting my chickens
I have wanted some since I was 12 when we got to keep a chick my brother had hatched in class for a few days at home.
I live on a very small property in an Urban area which I am slowly turning into the Farm / Homestead I have always wanted. I finally stopped dreaming of the things I wold do "one day" when we moved to some place with some land and decided to turn our back (and front) yards into our Farm! I expanded our vegetable garden last year and we got some rabbits (we now have 6 babies
) And this year the chickens are coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(For this year) I am getting four chicks, hopefully girls. One White Leghorn, one Exchequer Leghorn, one Road Island Red and One Barred Plymouth Rock. They are coming from My Pet Chicken in mid-June and I will be building a modified (expanded) version of the Garden Ark from here: http://www.thegardencoop.com/ for them. My plan is to ultimately build a larger coop/run area and have 8-12 hens but am starting small for now.
