Hi Everyone,

I've been visiting the site for about a year and finally registered so that I can post. I currently have several hens for laying (most RIRs and hybrids) and have recently acquired a Black Orpington hen and rooster and a Buff Orpinton hen. I'm looking forward to more Orpingtons.

I'm located in south, central Alabama and would be happy to hear from anyone interested in Orpingtons or other chicken enthusiast in this area.

Hello My New Friend!

I'm glad to see you jumping onto the bandwagon with all of us. Let me encourage you to continue the communication with Julie. She is here as BamaChicken. Do a user id search for photos of her amazing flock....this is the direct flock I have aquired my Orpingtons and now yours. She also is the State Rep. for the Orpington Club.

Also, you asked about buff Orps., and again I'm going to push you her way because she hatched some nice exhibition line buff Orps only to let a lady within her church raise them up. Those are now just begining to lay and would be a good source for a cockeral for your buff hen.

See you soon, and welcome to BYC!!!

Hi! I'm in TN, but spent most of my youth in Alabama (B'ham, Montgomery, Auburn, Tuscaloosa). Are you around Troy State? Aren't they the Trojans?

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. @AlabamaFarmGuy -- I suspect there are many of us in the area. Every morning I hear the distant sound of roosters crowing from many different directions around my area so, obviously, there are many who keep chickens around here.
