Hi, All.
My name is Billy, and my wife's name is Kristyn.
We picked up 2 chickens to rid ourselves of a LOT of earwigs in our new garden around March, 2009, when we moved here. Fast forward - we now have 3 laying hens, a rooster, 5 medium chickens we hatched via incubator (3 roosters, 2 hens) and 7 x 1 month old chicks. I personally care for each and every chicken, and practically live in their coops - aka, My garage. :-D
Anyway, nice to meet all the other people who regard chickens with some respect.
I found this forum via blog text search a la google for the search term "reattach dislocated leg of chicken" - amazing.
Anyway, just wanted to mention that I'm caring for a 1 month old chick that has had a dislocated leg (socket attaching to body) since around hatch. I pick it up and attempt to massage the joint into place, but the poor bird still has a gimpy leg. I've put it in its own cage, and have been caring for it, but with my bad back, it's becoming a burden.
I read in another thread on this site about a sling - which I'm leaning towards, but I'd be happy to take any other suggestions.
Thank you all in advance for the place to talk about chickens.
Sincerely,
Billy
