Hi from Texas! No chickens yet...

I am looking to learn a lot about chickens before I get any. I'm wanting to start with a couple, but me and a friend might get together and get a few more. I'm just hoping to get some eggs and I've heard raising chickens is very rewarding, so I want to try it out.
I am a Guinea Pig guru, but know nothing about chickens, so I think I will be spending a lot of time here.
