While not exactly new to raising chickens, it’s been a long time, so . . . a visit to Tractor Supply, and now we have 58 chirpy babies. They are growing like little weeds, too - especially the Cornish X. They are huge! The rest are Barred Rocks, RI Reds, Easter Eggers, and Speckled Sussex. I spend time just watching them every day, they’re so beautiful.
We also have a GSD named Sadie. She’s my bodyguard. Don’t tell her, but she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She sits and watches the chickens with me. It’s hilarious. She watches over the grandchildren when they’re here, too. (We have 7).
My husband and I are retired. He was with a major utility corporation for 40 years, I’m a retired paramedic. Miss it, too sometimes.
I did a search on Cornish X and wound up here! Great, informative place. I’m looking forward to making friends here.
