I am the mother of 3 boys and 1 girl, a dog named Toph, and 3 Golden comets, 2- Rhode Island Reds, and just added 8- Cuckoo Marans. I have been looking on this website alot since before I got my GC and RIR. It has been such a blessing to me and I have gained alot of knowledge from the forums, learning center, and well everything else! When I first got my chicks I had 3GC & 3RIR but they grew and I knew my babies needed to start spending some time outside, then they got put in their coop. So one night a predator(I think it was a raccoon) came and killed one of my RIR which brought us down to 5. My husband and I wanted to add to the flock for breeding, we were thinking about Salmon Faverolles or Marans. I was at a local business called Jamestown Feed and Seed asking about this same bird and she ended up having some Cuckoo Marans. So this morning we became proud parents of 8more girls
I call my current chickens "my ladies" so the Marans will be my girls
Our intention was to get 6 girls but we couldn't leave the last 2 now could we. I'm excited about watching them grow into hens and watching there interaction with "My ladies." In the mean time I will continue to read the posts, articles and any other info I can get to help me be a better chicken owner. In the pics below are my GC & RIR at 2wks old (top) and my Marans that will be 2wks old on Tues. (bottom)
