I have three chickens (Plymouth Barred Rock "Gordita", Rhode Island Red "Chalupa" , and a Partridge Rock"Fajita" - hence the user name-MexiChicks. I'm a vegetarian so I never will make my chickens into the mexican dishes they are named after-plus they aren't meat birds anyway. I'm brand new to the chicken thing, I always wanted them but thought I had to have a farm, but not in the Seattle area we have "urban" chickens. I've had them for about three months.
So far they are all doing well. One was laying but has stopped for about a week, not sure about that. She also went to the vet recently and it turned out she has a tumor on her eye and lice! Great! We decided not to pay $400 to determine that it there was nothing we could do if it was malignant or waste our money and it be benign.
These chickens are my pets, I love them! I am very chicken obsessed as my husband and co-workers like to tell me. I worry about them and want them to like me.
