My name is Ron. New to BYC, not entirely new to chicken-keeping. I've had a few birds in the past, kept a few dual purpose hens for laying. Had to give it up, was working 2, sometimes 3 jobs so didn't have time to take proper care of chickens. Down to 1 job now, so I'm gonna get back into it this spring. In a couple more weeks I'll be getting some chicks, either a half dozen pullets or a dozen straight- run (keep a few pullets, raise the rest as meat birds). Probably get barred rocks, and my 11 year old daughter wants a couple bantams.

Let me just say, I LOVE this site! We're constantly referring to it as we get ready for this batch of birds. Wish I'd known about it a few years ago.
