Hi there,
I'm new and just wanted to say hi. My name is Mel and I've been keeping a handful of chickens now for nearly 2 years. Nothing serious just a few bantams in the backyard. I currently have 5 bantam Australorps and 1 pekin with 4 chicks. The pekin and her chicks are a new addition to our little flock and if all goes well with them I'm planning on getting some fertile eggs down the track and seeing how I go with them.
I've got 2 little kids so it's been wonderful seeing them interact with our chooks and the eggs are beautiful. There is nothing I find more relaxing than sitting outside with a glass of wine once the kids are in bed and watching the chickies scratch around the lawn.
We've recently also got a dog which has been a bit of a challenge as our chooks aren't confined in a coop and free range in a section of the yard - but so far Ruby, our adopted doggie has been pretty good.
Anyway - I'm looking forward to meeting you all and certainly have a lot to learn.
Thanks - Mel
