Hello everyone! I'm happy to be a member of BYC and look forward to learning a lot from seasoned. & new members!!
I acquired 3 Australorp hens and 2 Aracanna rooster 1 1/2 years ago. I had to rehome my younger rooster this past summer. Brother Rooster wanted his own hens. Thankfully I found a lovely home for him, next town over. He learned well how to be a kind rooster from his older sibling, Rooster.
My 4 have a coop in an old dairy barn, where I board my 2 horses.
There are hawks that killed the rest of the flock, before I brought my horses there. So, I only let my 4 free range when I am there feeding and mucking the paddock area. They like to stay around me, thankfully.
I had a baby rooster hatch out at home last Spring. His name is Chipper. His nick name is Chip. He's fantastic!
Every time I had questions on what to do, I ended up on BYC getting my answers. I am so happy I'm here!!
