1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My four kids (13, 9, 6 & 3) and I are new to chickens, we got our first chicks in February.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We have ten.
(3) What breeds do you have? Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Reds, two mystery white hens that came out of the ‘fancy’ bin but I think they’re white leghorns? Def not fancy! We have also have two Naked Necks, a Silkie and a bantam silver sebright.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? We all love their different personalities. They’re great little lawnmowers
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? We love to paint/craft, garden, cook, hike and soak up sunshine and fresh air!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a homeschooling mom of four. Two girls and two boys. We have a Rottweiler named Ember, that we adopted two years ago. And we are currently working hard on turning our family property into a small self sustainable homestead.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found the BYC community on Facebook! My sister wants to raise some chickens of her own, and I wanted to direct her here!
